US · From a body-care hypothesis to a pilot

Body lotion · 4 oz · 250 units

Can a 250-unit body-lotion pilot support a viable US launch? Connect demand, formulation evidence, supplier readiness and unit economics to decide whether to test, revise or stop the concept.

Requested sales period: August 2026 · Updated: 27 September 2026

Prestige body care: +16% · H1 2026 · Circana *

An August 2026 whole-market best-selling product could not be verified. The products below are hypotheses for a pilot, not confirmed monthly winners.

How research converges on a decision

Fifteen services connect across five stages. Light pulses represent the exchange of findings: market and product work run in parallel, then inform economics and the pilot plan. Select a star to explore the service.

Demand → product → validation → economics → pilot → repeat purchase

Star: a service. Line: a dependency between findings. Pulse: information transfer. This is an explanatory project map, not measured data traffic.

The hypothesis is a body lotion, with a 250-unit pilot. This is an educational example, not a verified August 2026 bestseller. Circana’s August 11 report covers the first half: prestige and mass beauty each grew 7%, while prestige body care grew 16%. Segment growth does not determine an individual product’s success.

01 / Hypothesis and customer

Define the audience, need and market position. Market research informs strategy; demand and repeat-purchase analysis turn the idea into a testable hypothesis.

02 / Product and evidence

Investigate the concept, ingredients and scientific basis in parallel. The dossier connects consumer needs to product requirements. A literature review alone does not establish the safety of a finished formula.

03 / Manufacturing and readiness

Compare manufacturers, minimum batches and terms. Plan tests and target-market checks. Purchasing follows confirmation of significant technical and regulatory questions.

04 / Economics and channels

Combine product cost, channels, fees and customer acquisition. Compare launch scenarios and unit contribution. If economics are weak, revisit price, packaging or channel.

05 / A bounded pilot

Agree continuation criteria, budget and responsibilities. Project management connects preparation to launch. Further investment depends on observed sales, quality and repeat purchases.

The pilot budget is 5,972.97 USD, including a 10% reserve. Published supplier and Amazon rates support 1,309.97 USD; the remainder consists of model assumptions. Alse.Beauty service fees are not included.

250 units × 3.80 USD baseline contribution = 950 USD before fixed costs. This is not net profit or a promise of payback. The launch budget and unit contribution answer different questions; they must not be added as independent costs.

Sources and calculations checked September 28, 2026. Published rates require confirmation in a quotation; taxes, shipping, specifications and platform terms can change the total.

Contract manufacturer → own store → creators → Amazon / TikTok Shop → retail if validated

The budget is a planning allowance before additional taxes, not an all-in launch quote. Marketing and fulfilment reserves fund operating activity; the unit calculation allocates those costs to sales and must not be added to the budget again. Returns, storage, payroll, replenishment and Alse.Beauty fees need separate assessment. Supplier scope, packaging, safety work and marketplace eligibility must be confirmed before ordering.

The 15 services form a research map, not a mandatory package. Scope and Alse.Beauty fees are agreed separately.

Price − channel fee − product cost − fulfilment − acquisition − marking. This is not net profit. Scenarios are assumptions, not a demand forecast.

Next step: test a small batch; scale only after product checks, positive contribution and evidence of repeat demand. Retail entry is conditional, not a promised next stage.
